Over 75 Years of Service....

More than 75 years ago, on October 26, 1928, the charter members of the Laguna Beach Garden Club organized, elected officers, and created bylaws to become an official garden club.

The original members planted trees and fought to keep billboards off the highway. Most important, they began a tradition of service and community involvement that we are proud to continue to the present day.

In the years during World War II, the club called a temporary halt to the usual garden tours and flower shows, and instead, devoted its energies to growing Victory Gardens and delivering flower arrangements to bedridden soldiers. The USO Recreation Center in Laguna Beach was decorated with cut flowers and the Air Corps Replacement Training Center in Costa Mesa was re-landscaped, courtesy of club members.

Since then, our garden club has supported a wide variety of projects designed to promote gardening, horticulture, and protection of the environment. We make annual donations to several local public gardens and arboretums. Saddleback College horticultural students have benefited for several years from our scholarship program. The downtown "Pocket Park" on Forest Avenue was refurbished through the hard work of our members and we have committed to maintain its beauty indefinitely.
