As the bus turns on to the highway on the right side are fine examples of early summer residences situated, as most were in the early days, on the inland side of the highway so as to offer panoramic views of the ocean beyond.

The Crescent Bay neighborhood was subdivided in 1928 and, at that time, called McKnight’s Addition Section. Crescent Bay was one of the last portions of the city to be subdivided prior to W.W.II and became a desirable location for the wealthy from out of town to build their seasonal homes.
Though many have been torn down and rebuilt over the years, you can occasionally see an architectural reminder of the past and imagine when the highway was a narrow lane of scattered beach homes.
Along the route, members of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association captured the beauty of the gardens and coastline.
