Join us on December 8th  for our general meeting to hear the Lisa D. Foster give a presentation titled How I Became the Bag Lady: How I started a business for a greener world and changed the way America Shops.

In 2005, the U.S. was throwing away a billion plastic bags a day. That was when Lisa discovered the impacts of all those bags on the environment and our health. She became obsessed with getting America to switch to reusable bags. And for the next 12 years  dedicated herself to becoming the “bag lady”, an entrepreneur whose mission was to save the world, one bag at a time. Through her experiences, she inspires audience members to become aware of how the little choices we make every day, like reusing a bag, have a big effect on our world.

Lisa D. Foster, Ph. D., ACC offers coaching and group training to help managers become more effective leaders by using emotional intelligence to create the conditions for high performance. In 2005, she founded 1 Bag at a Time, Inc., a first-to-market reusable grocery bag company. A former high-school English teacher, she became a pioneer in the fight against single-use plastic and a top supplier of reusable bags in the US. She sold her business in 2017. As a coach, she shares her expertise in leadership and emotional intelligence with her clients and inspires others to make a difference in their communities and organizations. In addition to coaching, Lisa speaks, leads workshops, and writes about emotional intelligence, leadership, and storytelling.
